SBC UPG Update for 4100
Purpose: This set of instructions is intended to explain how to upgrade your modem firmware to the latest version, 53. This version contains fixes for AOL for Broadband 9.0, DSL power-off enhancements, a fix for restoring the modem’s memory, multiple fixes to the statistics web page, enhancements to DHCP, and a security fix.
Downloading the firmware pack to your Desktop
1. Click here to open the zipped file.
2. Follow any prompts to unzip the folder (this varies by system).
3. Select the "005-D240-A5F-SBC53-4100.upg" file.
4. Right Click the file and choose "Copy".
5. Go to your Desktop, and Right Click on any blank area, and choose "Paste".
6. Close the zip folder and browser window.
Updating the firmware on the modem using a firmware pack
1. Plug the Yellow Ethernet cable from the 4100 modem in to your computer.
2. Open the web browser and enter
http://192.168.0.1 in the address bar, and hit "Enter" key. (You might need to disable any firewall software if unable to access the modem GUI.)
3. Click the "Advanced" button in on the left hand side to toggle expanding the grey button list providing more options.
4. Click the grey "Update Modem " button.
5. If you are prompted to "Enter the Modem Access Code," then enter the Modem Access Code that is located on the yellow sticker on the bottom of the modem, then click the "Continue" button.
6. Click the "Browse…" button and then select the location of the "005-D240-A5F-SBC53-4100.upg" update file on your Desktop (or folder on your hard drive where you chose to keep it).
7. Then click "Open" to accept that selection and it should return to the GUI.
8. Click the blue "Update Software from PC" button at the bottom of the GUI.
9. Once the file has been uploaded to the modem, you will see a screen saying "The software update completed successfully!" and "The modem will now reboot to let the new software take effect."
10. After the modem has restarted, you will see the normal startup Login GUI screen.
11. Now, the firmware has been upgraded, and the modem is ready to use.
